Making your social media sing at tradeshows

Tradeshows are a hive of activity – with hundreds of great events taking place at the same time. It’s like a museum: sometimes it’s impossible for one visitor to see everything they want in a day.

The social media revolution has helped companies to claim an advantage – sending relevant news to the right people at the right time in order to cut through the crowds. But this process is a lot harder than it may seem.

If you’re looking to make your social media ‘sing’ at this year’s Infosecurity, here are some essential steps that must be followed.

  • Prepare: Start researching the people you want to target before the show. Who do they follow on Twitter? What LinkedIn groups do they belong to? What other social channels do they use? The more information you gather here, the more relevant your communications will be.
  • Seriously, prepare: Look into the press conferences that are taking place, and what time they are being held. Would you be able to add something to these topics? If so, consider sharing it as the conference is beginning.
  • Be visual: As a general rule, a picture tweet goes a lot further. What are you showing on your stand that will make people stop and look? Put that on your social media too.
  • Tag it: This year’s official hashtag is #infosec14. This is where media and attendees will be searching for the latest information. If your news is not here, they can’t find it.

As ever, you can contact us via @Infosecurity on Twitter if you have any questions.

Look forward to seeing you in April!
